Moto GP, Aprilia without Martin relies on Bezzecchi: "I can't wait, I'm happy"

Marco Bezzecchi
Bologna, 26 February 2025 – It will be up to Marco Bezzecchi to lead Aprilia in the Thailand Grand Prix in Buriram. The injury of Jorge Martin , the reigning world champion, makes the rider who left the Academy the captain of Noale for the first GP of the season. A bad blow for Aprilia to have immediately lost the number one, who will need some time to get back to full fitness, but Bez has already shown in the past that he can take pole positions and win Grand Prix, so there are well-founded hopes of seeing a good result in Thailand after the tests that left good impressions. There is still a feeling to be achieved, especially for those coming from Ducati, but Bezzecchi arrives in Buriram with a good dose of optimism and the responsibility of being the first Aprilia guide.
Bezzecchi: “Happy with the work done”Marco Bezzecchi comes from a difficult season in Pertamina Ducati with the 2023 bike. If the previous year with the Gp22 Bez had found himself very well, remaining in the world championship fight for a long time, there was less feeling with the next bike that in fact only Marc Marquez in Gresini managed to make go fast. And it was precisely Marc's promotion to the official team, plus Pramac's exit for Yamaha, that produced the diaspora of three talented riders like Martin, Bezzecchi and Bastianini . The first two became teammates in Aprilia, which has great ambitions, but Jorge's crash in Sepang definitely ruined the start of the season. Bezzecchi , however, is a candidate to be a protagonist in Buriram where he finished fourth in 2023: "I'm happy with the work done and with my adaptation, everything went pretty well - his words to Motorsport.com - I think that many things have been developed and we have made important decisions on the package. I'm satisfied".
Bezzecchi can't wait to take on this new adventure that starts on Sunday on the Thai track with the first race of the season: "I really like the track and I feel good on it. Then the atmosphere is fantastic with so many fans following us and I can't wait to get started. I want to send a big good luck to Jorge. I hope he can come back as soon as possible". Replacing the world champion will be test rider Lorenzo Savadori , who is certainly not a Moto GP novice. A podium result is not expected, but he will have to do as many laps as possible to accumulate data and help in the development of the Noale bike: "I'm very sorry that Jorge can't race, I hope he comes back soon - said Savadori - From my point of view I will give 100% as always and the goal is to continue to make the bike grow".
